About Us

Danielle Hodges and Jon Fowles are both passionately involved in the dog training industry.  Combined, they have over 20 years experience in the field.  Jon and Danielle are both certified professional dog trainers (CPDT), members of the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), and are certified as a CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) evaluators.  They both work as a private behavioural consultants as well as a head classroom instructors.  Jon and Danielle regularly attend industry conferences in order to stay current and progressive.

Both Danielle and Jon have worked with dogs in many different facets, such as dog daycare, boarding kennels, vet assistants, shelters and dog walking.  These experiences have allowed them to understand the subtleties of working with dogs and to really sharpen their skills as handlers.

Jon shares his life in the city with his rescue dog Hailey-the-handful (a border collie mix). Danielle also lives in Toronto with her husband and two Maltese, Quincy and Pearl.

Apprentice’s:

  Katie Virtue is the proud owner of Scarlett, a nearly three-year-old Great Dane. After spending too much time training Scarlett the wrong way, Katie finally sought the help of a professional trainer, who then became a good friend, and eventually a mentor. Katie fell in love with rewards-based training and decided to switch careers from book publishing to dog training. For the last year, Katie has been walking up to 18 dogs a day in order to learn all that she can about dog behaviour and use what she knows in order to keep her dogs safe and happy. In the evenings, Katie apprentices at Follow The Leader inc. Dog Obedience School, where she will become an instructor and continue to work towards her board certification. Katie is active in Toronto’s dog professionals community. She attends as many industry seminars and conferences as she can to keep her knowledge and skills current so she can provide a quality service to her clients and their dogs.

Glen Quart has always had a strong fascination with dog training. Over two years ago Glen rescued a Miniature Pinscher “Dexter”. Once he started to train his dog he realized there are so many different philosophies. He didn’t know which philosophy was right for him and Dexter or where to start. He tried many methods only to see no results. When Glen became frustrated, he got in touch with “Follow the Leader inc.” to aid him with his dog’s behaviour problems and since then has seen great improvements in Dexter.

For over a year, Glen  has volunteered at the Toronto Humane Society as a dog walker to learn more about dog behaviour and different breeds. He gained a lot of experience with handling difficult dogs.  Combined with his experience with Dexter and  the Humane Society, this past year Glen decided to leave his retail job to start his own dog walking business to pursue his passion and be more involved with the community.

Glen lives in Toronto with his girlfriend Erika and their dog Dexter.
